They don't just sell frozen food, contrary to popular belief 👀

Every supermarket knows this and they're keener than ever to claim they're the cheapest or they offer the best value. Iceland isn't really a chain I'd considered before – I flit between Lidl and Morrisons these days – but I've heard Iceland has upped its game.

A penny under £60 and a day later, as promised my shopping arrived – and I was pretty impressed. There was a ton of carbs; bread rolls, a loaf, bagels, crumpets and more than 2.5kg of McCain Homestyle chips which – if you're not going to make your own chips – are reasonable. I probably could have ordered a bag of rice and a packet of pasta instead but I already had them.

Moving into snack corner, I squeezed in a small multipack of Frazzles, a four-pack of Dairylea Dunkers, six yoghurt Choobs and a six-pack of Mr Kipling Bakewell tarts. For tea, we could do chicken fajitas, a large spag bol or a chili con carne which would last for two nights, a couple of freezer teas and maybe a chicken curry which could last a couple of days. So yes, it's possible to feed a family-of-four – although maybe not a family of fressers like mine – for a week on the £60 deal.
