'We compared the cheapest thick white bread from every supermarket - one was just like Warburtons Toastie at half the price'
With more shoppers turning to the likes of seeded or sourdough varieties, the humble plain white sliced loaf doesn't always get a look-in.
We all know how prices have risen though and you now struggle to find a loaf of Warburtons Toastie for less than £1.40.That's why we decided to take a look at supermarket own brand thick white loaves to see how they compare. Most are rectangular shaped - Asda's perfectly so - except for Morrisons, which is more of a square, and Lidl and M&S somewhere in between.
There's a difference in thickness too, with Aldi and Tesco both winning in equal measure on that front.They're all a standard 800g loaf, which is the same as a Warburtons, and all-but-one have 16 slices.
