Yankees outfielder prospect Jasson Dominguez was called up from Triple-A on Friday and debuted Friday night in Houston.
First time up, Dominguez hit left-handed against Verlander and took a curveball for strike one.
Next pitch, he hit a line-drive, two-run homer over the left-field scoreboard and into the seats on a 94-mph fastball for a 3-0 first-inning Yankees lead.CLICK here to watch the home runJust 20 years old, Dominguez became the youngest Yankees player to debut since 19-year-old pitcher Jose Rijo on July 6, 1984.
Catcher Austin Wells also played his first major-league game Friday for the Yankees, giving them two players debuting on the same day for the first time since Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin on Aug. 13, 2016. Wells’ first at-bat was a good one, too, as he lined a single to right field to lead off the Yankees second inning.
