“Cheer Up” is a campus mystery rom-com about a college cheer squad whose glory days are long gone and is now on the verge of falling apart. Han Ji Hyun stars as Do Hae Yi, a rookie member of Yonhee University’s cheer squad Theia, who has a cheerful personality despite facing difficult circumstances at home. Bae In Hyuk stars as Theia’s oft-misunderstood captain Park Jung Woo, who is a firm stickler for the rules but is also a romantic at heart.
Bae In Hyuk and Han Ji Hyun have fun discussing with the director ahead of a drinking scene. The two lead actors wrap up filming as they ad-lib the scene of them trying to pay for their drinks. However, they soon realize that neither of them have money to pay, and even Bae In Hyuk’s bag is empty. Finally, Bae In Hyuk and Han Ji Hyun film two different kiss scenes in the rain. Despite the difficulties of finding the perfect angle to kiss in the rain while holding an umbrella, the two remain energetic with bright smiles on their faces. Han Ji Hyun waves her hands around Bae In Hyuk’s face before deciding where and how to place them, while Bae In Hyuk tilts the umbrella a little closer to Han Ji Hyun to prevent her from getting too soaked.
