Crews are gaining momentum slowing the spread of the Washburn Fire that has now burned 4,822 acres. Containment has boosted to 37 percent as of Saturday morning.
The progress crews are making on containment lines comes as fire investigators are asking for the public's help in finding out what or who may have sparked the fire.
Anyone who was in the Wawona area and who noticed any suspicious activity last Thursday is asked to contact park officials. On Sunday, July 17 at 8 am, Wawona will reopen only to residents and property owners, with restrictions. For more information, clickSeveral road closures remain in place after flames spread to the Sierra National forest -- that includes Sky Ranch and Big Sandy Roads.
