Trent Angus, 33, was fatally shot during an RCMP raid on a business in Waseca on Feb. 26.
Saskatchewan police knew him differently: for past charges involving firearms and for an incident in which a stolen car was used to ram an RCMP vehicle during an arrest in Lloydminster.At the time, he was wanted on charges of pointing, possessing and discharging a firearm in connection with a Nov. 28 incident in which a man went to a home on Little Pine First Nation and fired a gun, hitting a parked vehicle, before fleeing.
Saskatoon city police are investigating the events of Feb. 26, including the shooting and the way next-of-kin notification was done.In a news release after the shooting, RCMP said a search warrant was executed at a commercial property in Waseca at 11:45 a.m. on Feb. 26, with involvement from its critical incident response team.
Lori-Anne said Trent and her son — who was among the people taken into custody — were at the Waseca property — a mechanic shop — to fix her truck. Earlier that day, Trent spent time on Little Pine First Nation with his youngest child, she said.
