Not much time will pass after the last La Porte High School senior receives his diploma on May 26 at Bulldog Stadium when the bulldozers will come rolling in.
The bond package, which was presented in three propositions, also will fund bus replacement, an educational center and field house, improvements at all schools and upgrades for facilities and safety and security. It will also fund personal electronic devices for all staff, teachers and students and technology upgrades to be phased in over 10 years.
The planned stadium will seat about 9,000, which is about 500 more than the current seating capacity."It's going to be a horseshoe-shaped stadium and it's going to have an eight-lane track and that will allow us to host track events," he said."Right now, we only have a six-lane track.""Of course, there will be a new press box and we're building a new development center on the north side," Berneathy said.
The two programs will meet in that stadium for a game on Sept. 22. Last September, the Eagles defeated La Porte at Bulldog Stadium 34-27.
