Nature research paper: VLDLR and ApoER2 are receptors for multiple alphaviruses
We are providing an unedited version of this manuscript to give early access to its findings. Before final publication, the manuscript will undergo further editing. Please note there may be errors present which affect the content, and all legal disclaimers apply.Alphaviruses, like many other arthropod-borne viruses, infect vertebrate species and insect vectors separated by hundreds of millions of years of evolutionary history.
We show that the E2/E1 glycoproteins of SFV, eastern equine encephalitis , and Sindbis viruses interact with the ligand binding domains of VLDLR and apolipoprotein E receptor 2 , a closely related receptor.
