One of the first shots in the mischievous, fin-de-siècle “Vienna Blood” is of a lovely young woman with a ribbon in her hair and a serene look on her face, reclining on an upholstered chaise in a manner that suggests a Pre-Raphaelite painting—except, of course, for the hole in her chest and the blood that has trickled, almost tastefully, down her white taffeta bodice.
The windows are bolted. The door has been locked from inside the room. There is a suicide note, but there is no gun—and, as an autopsy reveals, no bullet either....
