Marvel's forgotten superpowered vigilante Night Raven wound up inspiring Alan Moore and David Lloyd's classic graphic novel V for Vendetta. Asked for a similar character, Lloyd insisted on a dystopian future in order to cut down on research.
The acclaimed V for Vendetta is one of the most widely-recognized comic properties in the entire world, but most fans don’t realize the original inspiration behind the story lies in a forgotten Marvel Comics hero. That hero is Night Raven, a Shadow-inspired, 1930s-era pulp avenger who appeared almost exclusively in comics published by Marvel UK.
