As a result, the league will ditch its usual divisional format for 2022, instead pitting the teams with the two best conference records against each other for the championship. The team with the better winning percentage in conference games will host.
FAU was slotted fourth in C-USA's preseason poll, followed by North Texas, UTEP, Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, Rice and FIU.
