"I have heard that this city is the next on the list for an NHL franchise," sports fan Mike Dove said. "I think it's great."Visiting from Canada, Dove said he'd love to follow a Utah hockey team on the ice.SUU professor of sports media Hayden Coombs, who has a doctorate in sports management, said the timing was no accident.
"I don't think Ryan Smith would be dangling this carrot in front of the fans unless he's had very real, very recent conversations with the NHL Commissioner and the ownership group down in Phoenix of the Coyotes," he said."We saw what happened in the legislature this year. We saw the Sports and Entertainment district that would be created here," Jeff Robbins, president of the Utah Sports Commission, said.
