CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A group of arts organizations are again teaming up with City Councilman Kevin Conwell to help more Cleveland kids get exposed to music.
The effort, Play It Forward Cleveland, seeks donations of gently used musical instruments as part of a free music program for Cleveland children in grades three through 12. The instruments will go to kids who may not otherwise be able to afford them.They can be dropped off Saturday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame , or at the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning .
In addition to the Rock Hall and the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning, other groups involved in the donation drive are the Cleveland Orchestra, Assembly for the Arts, Famicos Foundation, and the Music Settlement. Conwell, who is a percussionist, has been a big supporter of the collection program since its inception in 2019, and frequently touts the benefits of musical education for young minds.
