A number of Halloween costumes have been recalled and removed from sale
Urgent recall notices have been issued for popular Halloween costumes that pose a 'serious risk' to children. The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued recalls on three Amazon outfits that were on sale in the run up to October 31.
The warning reads: "The product presents a serious risk of entrapment as when the waist area of the dress is stretched out, both free ends of the ribbon/cord measured 175mm ± 10mm, exceeding the specified maximum of 140mm ." The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys Regulations 2011 or the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 and has been removed from sale.The Yhong girl’s Halloween dress-up star outfit, also sold via Amazon, has also been recalled.
A witch costume also sold via Amazon also poses a 'serious risk' to children and has been removed from sale. The Spooktacular Creations Orange & Purple Halloween witch costume presents 'a serious risk of choking and a risk of strangulation'. "The product also presents a risk of strangulation as the fabric belt features a cord that has been measured to exceed the maximum length of 300mm. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present." The product has been recalled and removed from sale.
