Pennsylvania State Police have released a statement about what caused a milk tanker to crash into the Susquehanna River last month.
Shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, the tractor-trailer hauling milk careened into the river and spilled the milk it was carrying downstream. The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Route 22/322 in Middle Paxton Township, Dauphin County, between the Dauphin Narrows and Front Street exits. State police said the truck, referred to as Unit 1 in the statement, was simply going too fast around a curve when it lost control.

"Unit 1 was traveling too fast to safely negotiate the curve causing his truck and trailer to exit the right lane and begin to rive onto the shoulder. Unit1 continued east on the shoulder when his trailer struck the concrete barrier on the right should of the road. Unit 1's trailer subsequently tipped over the concrete barrier and broke open into the Susquehanna River. River 1 continued to a position of final rest on the right should of US 22 E," the PSP statement said.
