Three-sport star has made a verbal commitment to play football at Nevada
The 6-foot-8 Leatherwood led the Falcons to the State Division 2-A football championship with a dramatic final drive that beat Santa Clara Wilcox. After joining the basketball team late, the Falcons caught fire and beat Napa Justin-Siena to win the State Division IV championship. In volleyball, Scripps Ranch finished second in the Western League, beat Torrey Pines twice in the San Diego Section Open Division double-elimination playoffs before losing to eventual champion Cathedral Catholic.
He averaged 6.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in basketball, but was a force down the stretch, scoring 13 points with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks in a Southern California Division IV Regional Championship win over Los Angeles Valley Torah. He finished with 7 points, 6 rebounds and blocked 8 shots in the state title game.Leatherwood was a TE in flag football and was a little-touted JV quarterback as a sophomore.
