Ukrainian President Zelensky makes first visit to UK today since Russian invasion
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will make his first visit to the UK today since the start of Russia's invasion.
As part of the military support, the Prime Minister is expected to expand the UK's offer of training Ukrainian troops which will include fighter jet pilots helping troops fly sophisticated Nato-standard fighter jets. An offer will also be made to begin the immediate training programme for marines. "President Zelensky’s visit to the UK is a testament to his country’s courage, determination and fight, and a testament to the unbreakable friendship between our two countries," Rishi Sunak said.
"It also underlines our commitment to not just provide military equipment for the short term, but a long-term pledge to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Ukraine for years to come.”
