E.ON, Europe's largest operator of energy networks, rejected demands to shut down the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline as part of sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine, the company told Rheinische Post newspapeR.The pipeline – which served as the major supplier of European gas needs from Russia prior to President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine – saw only one-fifth of its gas capacity flowing to Germany on Wednesday.

Ukraine began exporting to Slovakia this month, and Hungary and Moldova are expected to be the next European nations to receive energy imports.
