Attacks are said to have resulted in the deaths of Russian soldiers without direct commands.
Ukraine’s military is using AI-powered drones that attack targets without human direction Ukraine appears to be using ‘killer robots’ that identify and attack their targets without any human intervention – the first such instance in global warfare. The drones are known as lethal autonomous weapons, or LAWs. A source revealed the move to New Scientist, confirming that Ukraine is using the artificial intelligence-equipped drones to target tanks and other military vehicles.
Saker told New Scientist that while the AI had proved effective so far in identifying targets, it was more important to deploy a weapon that worked now than wait until it was perfect, adding that Ukraine would need large numbers of drones that can locate and strike targets autonomously.
