“Sadly this is the inevitable decline of the UK aid project, and Britain’s role as a development superpower” UK pledges £8m for Turkey-Syria earthquake but insiders blame aid cuts for 'slow' response 🔴 singharj
The UK on Tuesday sent 77 search and rescue specialists and four search dogs to Turkey to help locate survivors in the rubble of the earthquakes, and on Wednesday announced £8m-worth of vital equipment including thousands of tents, blankets and hygiene kits.
There are also concerns among officials that the search and rescue team arrived around 20 hours later than planned on Tuesday night. “Our slow, minimal response isn’t just from having less cash, it’s also from the drain of development staff.”she would be challenging the FCDO on the “huge reduction” in the aid reserve.
