LGBTQ+ campaigners are wary of the Government will class as ‘age-inappropriate’ when it comes to sex education
The review comes amid what the education officials described as ‘disturbing reports’ around Relationships, Sex, Health and Education classes. ‘LGBTQ+ children and young people deserve the same opportunity to thrive as any other child, and it is key that they can learn about themselves at school without information being suppressed.
Lucy Emmerson, the chief executive of the charity Sex Education Forum, said that it is ‘essential’ to review RHSE guidance from time to time to stay up to date. Cates said at Prime Minister’s Questions earlier this month: ‘Graphic lessons on oral sex, how to choke your partner safely and 72 genders – this is what passes for relationships and sex education in British schools.’
‘This will leave no room for any disturbing content, restore parents’ confidence, and make sure children are even better protected.’
