AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) -- The Texas Department of Transportation is asking for the public’s input when it comes to ways of better linking Austin to San Antonio.Tx

by Monique LopezAUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Department of Transportation is asking for the public’s input when it comes to ways of better linking Austin to San Antonio.to improve safety and mobility along I-35 and is holding three open houses, one with a virtual option, this Tuesday through Thursday.

“This is kind of great, because many of us either go to San Antonio or Austin for work,” Johnson said. “About 70% of San Marcos, which is in between San Antonio and Austin, leaves the city every single day to get to work, said Johnson. “The traffic is atrocious.”“When you expand an already-congested highway, what that does is just encourage more driving and more development that depends on driving, so it means everyone is more dependent on getting around by car,” said Rethink 35 board member Miriam Schoenfield.
