Two men have been convicted of robbing boxer Amir Khan at gunpoint for his £70,000. The robbery occurred when Khan and his wife left a restaurant in Leyton, around 9.10pm on April 18 last year.
Dante Cambell and Ahmed Bana were found guilty of robbing boxer Amir Khan at gunpoint for his £70,000 diamond-encrusted watch Dante Campbell, 20, and Ahmed Bana, 25, pleaded guilty on Friday to conspiracy to rob and possession of an imitation firearm.
He then fled the scene in a silver Mercedes driven by Bana which had pulled in front of Mr Khan’s car just moments before the attack. Two other men were arrested on suspicion of acting as ‘spotters’ and dining in the restaurant to keep track of Mr Khan’s movements, but were acquitted by a jury at east London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday.Dante Campbell robbed Mr Khan at gunpoint as he left a restaurant in Leyton with his wife in April last year : ‘I am a sportsman, a fighter. I have been put in the toughest situations but this is something different, this is really really scary,’ the 36-year-old told a court.
