The Twins Flavour serves Colombian street food in Liverpool city centre
Scents of cooking waft through its snug surroundings as South American music plays. Amid the Colombian paraphernalia adorning the walls, you feel like you could be in downtown Bogota.
"When we came here, I would never speak English. It was easiest for us to find a job by working in a kitchen, because front of house staff have to speak to customers and we weren't fluent."We've always loved cooking. My mum was back in Spain and she always cooked Colombian dishes for herself, for her friends and for extra money at the weekends.
Alejandra said: "We found a community of Colombian people here and we were looking for a place to meet. So at weekends I started doing Colombian food for our friends and we created a Colombian food group on Facebook for people in and around Liverpool. Alejandra added: "We started with a pop up in different places. We had one in Shenanigans - the Irish pub. I was working there as a head chef, so they let me do a Colombian night every Thursday and it was always busy.
Since opening in January, the restaurant has proved popular. It is busy mid-afternoon on Thursday as the ECHO visited, with dishes coming out of the kitchen at pace.
