This reduction marks the company’s second layoff round in five months.
According to a statement by company founder and CEO Jeff Lawson, the layoffs come “because the two parts of our business — communications and software — are at different lifecycle stages and have different operating needs,” adding that the communications division has “gotten too big” and needs “to get more efficient.”
He goes on to explain that the company conducted a second layoff round due to “the need to organize ourselves differently for success.”
