Former President Donald Trump took to social media Wednesday morning to slam President Joe Biden's United Nations General Assembly address, in which Biden reiterated his push for global leaders to support Ukraine in its battle against Russia.
"I ask you this: If we abandon the core principles of the United States to appease an aggressor, can any member state in this body feel confident that they are protected?” Biden said on Tuesday as he spoke to the U.N."If we allow Ukraine to be carved up, is the independence of any nation secure? I respectfully suggest the answer is no."It appears that Trump was not convinced.
His comments follow previous posts he made early Wednesday slamming Biden's address. Trump claimed the United States has aided Ukraine disproportionately compared to other nations."Our Country has spent almost 200 Billion Dollars more than the countries of Europe in fighting go Ukraine. Does anybody think this is fair and reasonable? Europe should equalize before we go forward!" he wrote.
"Biden just finished his surrender at the United Nations, and nobody, despite all we give them, showed up. No respect for America any longer!" Trump also posted on Tuesday. Trump's criticism comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to visit Washington, D.C., this week and continue his appeal for more American aid, and as some House Republican lawmakers have expressed their lack of appetite for continuing American financial and military support of Ukraine. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell , a staunch supporter of U.S.
Trump, the current GOP 2024 presidential front-runner, has claimed he would end the war between Russia and Ukraine if he was in office and has publicly stated he is not in support of additional Ukraine funding.
