On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump will likely clinch the Republican nomination for president.
WASHINGTON -
George Washington University Professor Dr. Todd Belt says the former president had more advantages than any candidate in recent memory. Trump won the nomination despite Republicans blaming him for losses the party sustained in the 2018, 2020 and 2022 elections. The former president is also facing 91 felony counts across four criminal indictments.
Trump will likely face President Joe Biden in November in a 2020 rematch. Biden beat Trump by 74 electoral votes. Belt thinks while both candidates have work to do to unite their parties, he sees Trump having the upper hand.
