Donald Trump is holding a 28-point lead among South Carolina Republican voters over their former Gov. Nikki Haley.
According to a Monmouth University-Washington Post poll taken Sept. 6-11, 46% of likely primary GOP voters would vote for the former president. Meanwhile, only 18% reported they would vote for Haley, and 10% opted for Sen. Tim Scott , as all three are vying for the 2024 Republican nomination for president.Over one-third of likely Republican respondents reported that President Joe Biden won the 2020 election"fair and square.
On the other hand, 57% of those supposed Republican respondents cited fraud as the reason Biden won, with 87% of Trump supporters saying the same. When it came to those who chose other candidates, a little less than one-third also pointed to fraud. Haley stood out during the Republican National Committee's primary debate as taking a stand for protected abortions in some cases. However, 38% of all respondents agreed that abortion should be illegal. Those who supported Trump agreed that it should be illegal by a majority of 73%.Still, Haley's national poll numbers greatly improved following her debate performance. She was the only candidate who had high enough polling to beat Biden outside the margin of error.
