The TRNSMT 'Boogie Bar' stage has become the unlikely place to be as the festival kicks off
From 11am, queues could be seen winding their way around the two entrances to Glasgow Green as saltires waved and fans wearing booty shorts and bucket hats screamed in anticipation. By 4pm the festival was in full swing as a sea of smiling faces began boogying in Scotland's biggest city.
Tom Grennan took to the main stage in front of a packed crowd - but it was a less likely location the majority of the other revellers were found partying. After a popular debut in 2021, the Boogie Bar stage made a return this year - offering an eclectic mix of bangers and contemporary beats.View gallery On Friday the line up included Glasgow based DJ and producer K4CIE who took to the stage at 5pm to a lively young crowd.
Some could be seen dancing on their friend's shoulders as the 2022 TRNSMT party got into full swing. As the video pans out, thousands of others could be seen lapping up the atmosphere at the stage which is a base for up-and-coming acts, rather than headliners. Meanwhile, as Nile Rodgers and Chic entered the main stage shortly after, not even the typical Scottish weather could spoil the party as the crowd boogied to classics such as Everybody Dance and I Want Your Love in between spells of rain and sunshine.
