In an emotional video, Trevor Noah says goodbye to TheDailyShow viewers, thanking them for their support over the years.
Trevor Noah has officially ended his tenure as the host of The Daily Show, saying goodbye in an emotional video. The show, which features late-night and comedic updates about the day's news, has been on the air since 1996. It was originally led by Craig Kilborn, who left in 1998. The Daily Show rose to prominence during long-time host Jon Stewart's run. Noah, having been a member of the show's cast since 2014, became its face after Stewart's 2015 departure.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY After announcing in September that he would be departing from The Daily Show, it was soon revealed that Noah's final episode would air on December 8. With that now in the books, The Daily Show shared a video with Noah saying goodbye to viewers as he steps down from the hosting role.
Where Will Trevor Noah and The Daily Show Go Next? Noah was an important figure in the history of The Daily Show, but it isn't going to end with him. After two and a half decades on air, the show has weathered its share of cast changes already. Considering that Noah took a Daily Show hiatus in June of 2021, the producers were likely aware that a change-up was possible.
Currently, the guest hosts include Al Franken, Sarah Silverman, Leslie Jones, Chelsea Handler, Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, John Leguizamo, Kal Penn, Marlon Wayans, and Hasan Minhaj. Given how well it weathered the change from Stewart to Noah, the show will easily be able to keep audiences interested as it searches for the right host.
As for Noah, he recently released a Netflix special, I Wish You Would, which proved that he isn't intending to step away from the limelight anytime soon. Instead, Noah plans to take time to himself to travel and work on stand-up comedy and producing. While The Daily Show certainly helped bring Noah to prominence, his run was somewhat turbulent among critics, and that can take a toll. Having some time to himself is an undoubtedly welcome change.
