The Trash Pandas’ first season pays off at the bank for the city of Madison. Minor league baseball team gives a financial report on revenue for the northern Alabama city.

That doubles what the baseball team paid in 2020 when revenues fell short of pre-pandemic expectations after the Trash Pandas expected inaugural season was canceled. The Trash Pandas paid about $622,000 to the city last year.

Madison also views Toyota Field as a catalyst for economic development in the city – particularly in Town Madison, the sprawling mixed-use development where the stadium is located. Fahrmann said it’s expected for non-baseball events to bring in such revenue and that the Trash Pandas have staff dedicated solely to organizing those events. Non-baseball events include everything that isn’t related to the Trash Pandas – including the annual Christmas lights show and fairs held at the ballpark as well as college and high school baseball games and private events.
