Traffic Alert: Northbound lanes of I-295 closed after semi-truck flies off overpass, crashes onto train tracks below

All northbound lanes of Interstate 295 North were closed around 11 a.m. after a semi-truck went off an overpass and crashed onto the railroad tracks below at Pickettville Road.

The impact damaged the tracks and the driver was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.One lane of traffic was reopened around noon but traffic in the area was slow going.No other details were immediately available.“I can confirm that it is CSX track, but it’s not a mainline or passenger route. It’s an industry track that serves local businesses. Florida Highway Patrol responded and is investigating the incident.
