🔴 Tory MPs warn Liz Truss against dropping pension triple lock pledge as No 10 says it's under review
Tory MPs have warned Liz Truss against ditching her promise to increase state pensions in line with soaring inflation.
Should the policy be dropped, it will leave pensioners more than £471.06 a year worse off than they expected to be next April, when the triple lock was due to be restored. Those who retired after 2016 will see their money decrease by £614.85. The decision to drop her promise to keep the triple lock comes after the Treasury ordered swingeing cuts in public spending in order to balance the books in the wake of the disastrous “mini-Budget”.
