The public face of President JoeBiden's Russia sanctions strategy, Daleep Singh, is taking an extended leave of absence from the White House.
Details concerning the timing and length of Singh's leave are scant, but a source told the Washington Post that the Biden deputy national security adviser and National Economic Council deputy is temporarily stepping away from his posts for family reasons starting next month. A National Security Council spokesman did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.
Singh's leave follows D.C. police being called to his Northwest Washington house in February after a man unknown to him “unlawfully entered the front yard” of his property before fleeing in a “blue/teal” older model BMW sedan. Singh was not home at the time. Singh, an alumnus of former President Barack Obama's administration and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, has been critical to Biden's Russian sanctions response, briefing the press on the record three times in February alone."This is not the outcome we wanted," he said that month."It's both a tragedy for the people of Ukraine and a very raw deal for the Russian people.
