Gotte with his first win at the Oilers’ helm, earning a 40-14 triumph against Memorial Thursday night at Pearland Stadium.
The Mustangs were able to march down the field and score with 14 seconds left in the half as Jackson Salters completed an 18-yard pass to Ethan Spears. The Oilers’ final touchdown came with 4:12 to play on a 27-yard slant pass from Cole Morkovsky to Christian Pitts.The No. 8 state-ranked Mustangs asserted themselves early and often en route to a 51-29 nondistrict victory over Hightower on Friday at Planet Ford Stadium.
That score gave the Mustangs a 44-7 advantage with less than five minutes to play in the third quarter. Westfield added to its lead with a touchdown run from Taji Atkins.Westfield has a huge matchup next Friday, traveling to play Class 6A Division I state champion North Shore at Galena Park ISD Stadium. Westfield was the only team to beat North Shore last season, winning 27-21. Westfield leads the series 6-3 since 2004.
Crosby opened the first-quarter scoring with a touchdown pass from Cyrin Myles to David Ards. Marshall answered when Jarrod Howard reached paydirt on the ground. Crosby begins District 8-5A Division I action next Friday against Baytown Lee. Marshall, meanwhile, has its final nondistrict tuneup against Alief Taylor on the road.Wheatley quarterback Joseph Andrews threw four touchdown passes, three to Theodis Tibbs, propelling the Wildcats to a 41-28 win over La Marque Thursday night.
