The number of people catching Covid is once again on the rise with many testing positive for the virus.
As previously reported by Glasgow Live, our city saw the highest number of cases over the last eight days across the UK on the day ending August 22.The new variant has been called Eris and was first reported to the World Health Organization on February 17. It was then placed under monitoring on July 19. It is said to be the latest concerning scientists with it already being the dominant coronavirus variant in the US, surpassing the XBB.1.
What is the Eris variant? Eris is a subvariant of Omicron, also known as EG.5.
