I Was Not Prepared For This Night King Theory On 'Game Of Thrones' And It's All I Can Think About Now
...BECAUSE HE'S ON HIS WAY TO KING'S LANDING.First of all, it was probably no mistake that at the end of the last episode, we did NOT see the Night King, but only his White Walkers, leading the army of wights. In fact, we haven't seen the Night King AT ALL so far this season. The Night King isn't stupid — he knows it does not make sense to challenge TWO dragons with his one wight dragon. And his army of White Walkers and wights is definitely big enough to split up, even in part.
In fact, the Battle of Winterfell would be the perfect"distraction" for him to travel relatively unnoticed down to King's Landing. They'd definitely make it there before anyone at Winterfell realized what was happening. Plus, strategically, it would make more sense to go to King's Landing — home to over a million people, as we learned in Season 7 — to raise an EVEN BIGGER undead army. Now, let's jump WAY back to Season 2, Episode 10,"Valar Morghulis." Remember how Daenerys had a vision of the Throne Room at King's Landing, destroyed and covered in...SNOW? This may have very well been a vision of the future we're talking about.
And then, in Season 4, Episode 2,"The Lion and the Rose," Bran had a vision of a dragon's shadow flying over King's Landing. As well as visions of the same snow-covered Throne Room , the Night King looking at him through ice, and many other things we've already seen come to pass. Could this have actually been the Night King riding Viserion?
And finally, since Bran was"marked" by the Night King, there really is no RUSH for the Night King to get to him first.I will say, the one silver lining is that Cersei sent Bronn north in the first episode this season, so there's a chance he'd spot the Night King, Viserion, and army heading south. But would he race to Winterfell or back to King's Landing first? My money's on Winterfell...or, at least, what will be left of it.
