MARTINEZ — A Contra Costa jury has begun deliberating the fate of an Antioch man accused of hiding in bushes to ambush and kill a 47-year-old man who tried to identify his killer before he died., 54, is charged with murdering Andrew McCoy, of Pittsburg, in the May 6, 2019 shooting on Shoreline Drive in Pittsburg. Prosecutors contend that GPS evidence from Lynch’s phone, surveillance video nearby the shooting scene, and witness testimony identifies Lynch and McCoy’s killer.
“If you want to get justice for Andy McCoy, then do right by Darrin Lynch…Tell the police, ‘Get the right guy,'” Lynch’s attorney, Austin Thompson, told jurors Monday. “Who knows why the defendant thought he had the right to take Mr. McCoy’s life,” she said. “Who knows why? We’re not going to know.”
