Crossmyloof Crossmyloof was originally hyphenated as Cross-my-loof, which meant to 'cross my palm' with "loof" or "luif" being the old Scots word for palm of a hand. Shettleston The origins of the Shettleston aren't clear, with a Gaelic derivation suggesting it relates to 'the daughter of Seadna'.Polmadie From the Gaelic for 'pool' or rather 'burn' or "stream'.Bishopbriggs It comes from the Scots term 'Bishoprigs', referring to rigs or arable strips of land belonging to the Bishop of Glasgow.
