They've had some negative reviews, but our reviewer was mostly happy
Organising a meal out for a large party of people is no mean feat. Picking a restaurant with a menu suitable for everyone is the first hurdle to overcome. Vegan, gluten-free, allergies and general fussiness are factors to bear in mind.
After an hour of mingling, chatting and drinks, we took our places at two long adjoining tables. Those of us of a certain age opted for the chairs, rather than the banquette against the wall, so we wouldn't be trapped and had an easier exit if we needed the toilet. My boss was agile enough to crawl under the table - the advantage of wearing a jumpsuit to spare any blushes - rather than disturb the row of four or five diners sitting next to her.
After a short break, the mains start to appear. Fish and chips, chicken supreme with peppercorn sauce and burgers have been ordered by the majority. There's a blip when a vegan colleague questions whether she'd got the right burger - just as well she did as she'd been handed a meaty one. The final element was samphire - something that's become more common in recent years. The green stalks, which grow around shorelines and estuaries and can be eaten raw or cooked, add a salty flavour. If I'm being picky, some of the bigger stalks, were 'woody', but other than that it was a well-cooked plate of food.
