Founded in Paris by Russian refugee Arcady Fixon at the height of the roaring twenties, the restaurant Caviar Kaspia is in the midst of one of the most significant expansions in its history
. Next month sees the debut of a Los Angeles outpost at the Melrose Place address that once housed the noted restaurant Bastide. Kaspia Group CEO Ramon Mac-Crohon, who took over in 2011, and his L.A. partners Rahav Zuta and Sam Ben-Avraham—a co-founder of Kith—are betting that the leafy enclave is a natural fit for a dose of café culture. Lunch is open to the public; dinner is a friends-and-family-only affair .
Before the end of the year, Kaspia also plans to plant its flag in London’s Mayfair; in Courchevel, France; and in New York City, at the Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side. Nearly 100 years after Fixon opened the Parisian original, which went on to become a , the brand expects to claim a global portfolio of eight locations: Kaspia fans will soon be able to enjoy the restaurant’s signature double-baked potato from São Paulo to St. Tropez.
