ICYMI: Our latest industry survey of more than 2600 What Car? readers reveals that smoking and pet ownership are the biggest turn-offs for used car buyers 🙁
When asked how much less they’d expect to pay, 40.57% of buyers said they would expect to see the list price reduced by 15% or more compared to one which hadn’t been smoked in. More than a quarter said they would expect to pay between 5-10% less for a vehicle that had been smoked in and 21.23% said they would pay between 10-15% less.
Buyers were slightly more tolerant of young children and towing, with 62.62% expecting to pay less for a car had been used for towing, and 42% expecting to pay less for a car that had transported young children.
