A number of Continental Hotels have been introduced in the John Wick movies across the world, including in New York, Osaka, Rome, Casablanca, and Osaka.
During a recent press event for The Continental that Screen Rant attended, Lee and Iwanyk discussed an early premise for the series. They revealed that the original idea would have had the series set in the present at a new Continental location. Although they already had completed scripts, they needed to go back to the drawing board, which is how the new idea for The Continental came to be.
Erica Lee: I mean, the original idea we batted around was present day and it was just sort of like another continental and another city.Erica Lee: And it ultimately didn't stick because I think that it was hard to make it look interesting and cool in the same sort of timeline. Right? We're backing ourselves into a corner if we did the show and the movies in the same timeline.Erica Lee: And so it was like, what was that? How do we make that as interesting as it can be.
What A Different Version Of The Continental Could Have Looked Like Although the producers felt the original idea for The Continental didn't work, it could have been an intriguing way to expand the John Wick universe. Although John Wick has visited a few Continentals, there are plenty that have not been shown on screen as yet.
Winston has been a staple of the John Wick franchise and the New York Continental since the first movie. The prequel will dig further into Winston's past and how he became the manager of the New York Continental. Winston becomes a powerful figure in this world, respected by the old-school assassins, but eventually, he crosses the High Table too many times.
