June will see the arrival of a new Irish bar, a permanent spot for a viral pasta pop-up and a reimaging of a storied Northern Quarter pub
As we prepare ourselves for the summer months ahead, Manchester's food and drink scene is really coming into its own. The start of the year is always a bit slower, as those working in hospitality take a well-deserved break and new concepts are cooked up.
The grand dining space has been painted a new rich green colour, while one of its ornate walls has been adorned with mirrors, further elevating the offer at the luxurious five-star hotel co-owned by Manchester United stars Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs alongside hotelier Winston Zahra. Menus are designed to be ‘accessible’, with some small plates priced £9, while larger dishes will start from £23 and a two-course Sunday lunch feast for £38.50.
Earlier this year, owner Dan Edwards announced the restaurant and take-away would be moving into the premises next door adding a dining space - giving diners more food choices, quicker serving times and a drink while they wait. The restaurant will be ready to open in the next few weeks.Leo and Roobs The team behind the much-loved Salford pub The Black Friar will be branching out this June with the launch of sister venue Leo and Roobs, a neighbourhood café.
Having shuttered at the end of 2022, the building - which has served as a public house since as far back as the 1870s - will now reopen at the Rat & Pigeon following a huge renovation. Some may not know, but the site was the scene of a massacre in 1976 when then landlord Arthur Bradbury killed his wife, her three children and cleaner before starting a fire.
