Delage wants this to be a modern F1 car for the street.
Automakers have been promising"race cars for the street" for so long that the claim has become a cliché that more often triggers eye rolls than interest. Yet,During a private event at the Specialty Car Collection exotic car dealership, we got an up close look at the Delage D12 as well as a few new details, specs, and why it looks the way it does relative to our first look last year. Let's start with a bit of background. Delage's history dates back to 1905.
Like other hypercars, the D12 offers up four-digit horsepower through a combination of a 7.6-liter V-12 engine and an electric motor . The pairing produces a grand total of 1,100 horsepower in a lightweight package. According to Delage CEO Laurent Tapie, the D12 can get from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.Speaking of lightweight, the D12 has carbon-fiber wheels with fan-like spokes that are designed to cool the brakes without need for extra ducting to disrupt the aerodynamics.
At the reveal Tapie confirmed to us that only 30 D12 cars will be produced and approximately 10 are earmarked for the North American market. So far, about four have been sold to U.S.
