'That's what you get for fiddling with kids': Paedophile magician 'Professor Paulous' attacked in prison
A paedophile former magician who went by the name 'Professor Paulous' was seriously injured after he was attacked in prison by an inmate who told him: "That's what you get for fiddling with kids."
A trial previously heard that McKee's offending persisted between the mid-1980s and late noughties, with some of the children only being toddlers at the time they were abused and several of the assaults being filmed with a camcorder, reports The Echo. Gareth Roberts, prosecuting, described him as a "serial abuser of children", with many of the details of his attacks being too graphic to publish.
McKee - who has no previous convictions - was convicted of 13 child sexual offences, including rape and sexual assault, after a trial. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for 30 years - a term of which he must serve at least two thirds before becoming eligible for release - and handed an additional four-year licence period.
He was serving a 28-month stretch at the time, having been banned from Liverpool city centre after a spate of offending which also saw him sexually assault a young student, steal Toblerones from B&M and smash his way into Specsavers during a burglary. Despite this, the "drunk nuisance" told a judge: "I'm going back to town whether you like it or not."
Then, on March 27 last year, the thief stole two bottle of vodka from Solo on Colquitt Street in the city centre. Kenny smashed one of them after discovering it was empty, but poured the contents of the other into a bottle of coke.
