For BYU’s purposes, the injury means it will see backup quarterback Maalik Murphy. He has attempted just eight passes in his career and saw his first significant action in relief of Ewers last Saturday. Heralded freshman Arch Manning will back up Murphy against BYU. He’ll get a significant portion of the reps in practice, but isn’t expected to play.“Arch and Malik will both get a ton of reps. If the game was played today, Malik would start the game,” Sarkisian said. “And Arch will be ready to go. Like I said before, I have a ton of confidence in Arch. I think it was a couple of weeks ago, he had a fantastic practice.
