A Texas inmate is facing scheduled execution on Tuesday evening for fatally stabbing his estranged wife and drowning her 6-year-old daughter in a bathtub nearly 14 years ago.
The girl’s father, Ray Montgomery, said he is not cheering for Green’s execution but sees it as the justice system at work.
Gary Green is facing execution for fatally stabbing his estranged wife and drowning her 6-year-old daughter in a bathtub in 2009.In prior appeals, Green’s attorneys had claimed he was intellectually disabled and has had a lifelong history of psychiatric disorders. “You asked to see the monster so here he is the monster you made me ... They will be 5 lives taken today me being the 5th,” Green wrote.Authorities said Green also intended to kill Armstead’s two other children, then 9 and 12. Green stabbed the younger boy but both survived.
Green “was an evil guy. It was one of the worst cases I’ve ever been a part of,” said Healy, who is now a defense attorney in Dallas.
