In a directive released Tuesday, the Republican governor called on the general public to report families of trans youth who help their kids access gender affirming care to state authorities.
This past week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott released an order asserting that allowing trans youth to access gender affirming health care constitutes “child abuse.” Abbott’s follow-up, sent this past Tuesday, directs “licensed professionals” and “members of the general public” to report the parents of minors who help their trans children access gender-affirming care to state authorities.
