A 22-year-old U.S. citizen arrived from Mexico and declared four wheels of cheese, which officers soon determined were concealing bundles of cocaine.

hidden inside what appeared to be normal wheels of cheese crossing the border from Mexico into Texas, officials said Friday.on Thursday with four wheels of cheese that the driver had declared, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a news release. When officers scanned the wheels of cheese using an X-ray system, the agency said they discovered"anomalies" within the products.
Officers cut open the cheese and uncovered seven bundles filled with a combined weight of 17.8 pounds of what they determined to be cocaine stuffed inside the wheels. Officers did an X-ray scan of the four cheese wheels and found"anomalies" within the products after a U.S. citizen arriving in a pickup truck from Mexico declared the cheese at a Texas point of entry.The 22-year-old driver, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations to face charges connected to the alleged failed smuggling attempt. No further details about the driver were immediately provided.
